Just Visiting

With writing ‘Just Visiting,’ Tommy wrote a flash fiction for us. This short gem is a nice addition to the Cutting School and Playing Games series. The title doesn’t reveal the name of the game. But the header image does. It’s about the endlessly long, endlessly irritating game of Monopoly. It has to be in the series. But how does one spice it up? Well, just ask Tommy 🙂

Just to be clear, guys… This is a short one. Mainly because nobody likes Monopoly… It’s true! Absolutely nobody likes Monopoly. I even asked ChatGPT, and it answered:

Many people dislike Monopoly because it’s long, luck-based, and often leads to arguments. The game can drag on for hours, with slow player elimination and little meaningful strategy. Trades can create conflict, and the outcome often feels unfair. Monopoly’s outdated design doesn’t hold up well against modern board games that are faster, more balanced, and more fun. While it has nostalgic value for some, it’s commonly seen as frustrating and friendship-straining.

Hmmm… So, I asked Copilot:

Monopoly tends to stir up more frustration than fun. It’s infamous for being endlessly long, where one player gains an early lead and slowly grinds everyone else into financial ruin. The mix of luck (bad dice rolls, unlucky Chance cards) and cutthroat competition can strain friendships. Players often feel powerless or bored midway through. Plus, despite its capitalist theme, the gameplay can feel oddly repetitive. Still, it’s a cultural icon—just one many people love to hate.

That’s it! Nobody likes Monopoly. But yet, Tommy gave it his all. And this version of Monopoly is better than the board game. I promise 🙂

Here’s the direct link. Have fun!
